been slow so long it looks like fast to me

A little semi-quote to start and we're off.  It really has been slow for days on end now.  I guess it's back to expecting nothing.  Mr Tyler has forgotten to pay us and it's been three weeks so the inner debate begins as to whether to just leave $900 worth of books in a box that could easily be sold or wait possibly three more months, a calculation derived from his last visit.  His studio is closed with no reply to the message I left on an answering service.  Speaking of studio that's the book that's missing, something by Kaluta and Wrightson and Windsor-Smith and Jones.  Frustrating.  "I sort of remember that one," L says as I give a proverbial pull to my hair.

But what I really wanted to mention was the appearance of Guy Bennett and Linda Lay coming in June.  I'll be announcing more as we approach the date.  Poets both and good ones too.  It'll be our first poetry presentation.  I'll have to work on my announcing skills.

Flyers from long ago.  Great art regardless.  What a lost art.

Did I mention Scott Fraser?

Here's his first set at The Battery: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C-TzsZ3qa3k
I just love this stuff with all sorts of pictures going through my head; we could hide him in the walls and he could be playing all the time.

Functions

Strange that the first book sold yesterday was Time To Pee and the first book sold today was Mommy I Have To Go Potty. I haven't been here for either event but it makes me want to speculate about tomorrow.

The last books?  Yesterday: Mary Engelbreit's Wrap It Up.  Tonight: Kate Chopin's The Awakening.

Anyway, listening to Return to Forever.  My back is completely out and I'm in pain but whatever.  For once it felt good just lying in bed.  Usually it goes away as I go through the day.  Not this time.  I think it would have been content with reading Zafon's Shadow of the Wind.

poxy boggards on video

Here's a bit of what I recorded that night at the store.  More to come.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O5w7RztpU8M

Scott redeemed

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TF4qbleo4bc

And in honor of Scott Fraser finding the lost tapes of three years ago I have put up his first set that he did here at the store.

Some of the background conversation is amusing and some is quite annoying but it is a live environment nevertheless.

Poxy Boggards

Well, it's time.  The Poxy Boggards are here on Thursday, starting late, around 7:30.  Parental advisory on this one as the tunes, although humorous, can be nasty.  I'll try to get some good ale for it..

Ew.  I just moved the keyboard and found a ton of dust underneath, and Amina's phone number.  Hmmm.

Big Black on the turntable.

Had our first porn buy today.  Well, I didn't buy the stuff yet, but I made a decision as to where I can put it and what I couldn't take.  Super Sex to Sexty, no.  Group Sex, yes.  Falling apart late 60s Playboy, no.  Sun Tours Issue No. 5 from 1967 (approved by the National Nudist Council), yes.  I'll bring the scanner in eventually and try to display some of the recent buys.  This one would be fun.

Had to let M. Davis go last week.  I feel bad but biz has been super slow.  We cut everyone's hours except Elise.  It just worked out that way.  The rain, I suppose, hasn't helped.  The Rick Potts gig was amazing but there were really only about eight people here to enjoy it.  I'll get some of the footage up in the not-so-distant future.  That is, if I can figure out how to do that here.  Maybe a link to You Tube?
